I have been a Christian for many years, have read the Bible through many times, and have even taught the Bible as literature in public school.

During an especially trying time for me personally, I had the opportunity to participate in ONE on ONE with GOD. In spite of the fact that I have had much exposure to scripture, the experience of personalizing and visualizing the Word brought freshness to my personal walk with the Lord.

Over the years I have watched new believers discipled successfully with this method. However, I am evidence that Š—“old believersŠ— can benefit greatly as well. This course can have a great impact on our world.

I had the privilege of being one of the first pupils to use ONE on ONE with GOD during its embryonic stage and have followed its subsequent development and enhancement with real interest.

It is difficult for me to communicate strongly enough just how much of an impact this material has had on my life. My Christian experience up to that point was nominal at best, but exposure to the ONE on ONE materials began to give me practical help in incorporating scriptural principles into my daily life. Fifteen weeks ago I was asking God for direction in my life but not spending time with Him.

Fifteen weeks ago I was wandering, alone and without a plan. I knew I was saved, but I was not pursuing a relationship with the Lord.

I have tried other programs and ways to grow closer to the Lord but was never able to stick with any of them. I know now it was because I was missing out on meditation. This has changed my life. Fifteen weeks ago I desired more for my life and family.

I knew that I was a Christian and had all the knowledge in my head but not in my heart. I was not meeting with God on a regular basisŠ—”only when I felt like I could not control the situation (like I am ever in control!). I had the wonderful privilege of leading five precious, godly ladies through ONE on ONE with GOD last summer.

One lady, N., loved the course so much that she didn’t just come to class; she went home each week, listened to the MP3, and studied the leader’s guide. She finished most of the memory verses by the eighth week. One night, with tears in her eyes, she told us how it was becoming more a part of her life to say, Š—“Lord, I love You!Š— consistently during the day and how she felt she was seeing changes in herself for the better. Three weeks after finishing the course, she was co-leading a group of disciples.

B., another lady from my first group, co-led the group with N. last fall and is now leading two groups at onceŠ—”one at church and one over the phone via conference calling. S., a lady in her Š—“liveŠ— group, is planning to start a group of women international students next week.

Another lady in the group is my pastor’s assistant, G. Among the many places she put her heart stickers (to remind her to tell the Lord she loved Him) was the Š—“startŠ— button of the church copy machine. She had told the office staff what the heart meant, and one day as she was walking by the copy room, she heard another secretary press the print button and say, Š—“Lord, I love You.Š— G. is now helping me lead a new group of disciples.

With the leader’s guide and a willing heart, anyone can lead a group through ONE on ONE with GOD. I am honored to be living proof of just that!

ONE on ONE with GOD is undoubtedly the most influential Bible study that I have taken in the past thirty years in terms of establishing a pattern for personal growth and quality quiet times with the Lord.

How well I recall when you first recommended we set aside five minutes in the morning! It was truly a novel practice for me as a new Christian. But oh, how sweet those times have grown to be, and how I love the Proverbs!

Hearing your stories of how, like bread on water, the course continues to feed many around the world is a wonderful example of God’s promise that His Word will not return unto Him void. For the five years prior to moving to Oklahoma, living in the fast lane of a booming restaurant business and being starstruck by high-profile customers, I spiritually floated.

I did not read my Bible much at all. I did, however, always have a sense of God’s presence. I constantly talked to Him throughout the few quiet moments I had every day. He was there for me when I did not know my needs. He sent me an incredible Christian waitstaff that always challenged me to put God first. He provided a Christian chef and brought to my special attention the Christian customers. All helped keep me on track.

However, during this time I was stagnant and not connected to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. As God miraculously worked it so that I would come home at the exact time I did, He knew I needed a fellowship and spiritual tools. The fellowship was made apparent through Crossings Community Church. The tools were made apparent through ONE on ONE with GOD via a connection God had placed in my life many years ago! Talk about God having a plan for good and not for evil to give me a future and a hope!

I am still working on the tools. However, I have a security, more than ever, of God’s love. I am learning to yield control to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. I am learning what true praise is, what true thankfulness is. Mostly I am recognizing God in a totally different way. He is the Omnipotent One, the Friend, the Master of all, the Creator, the Most Holy, the Companion, the One God.

The Š—“want toŠ— isn’t enough. He wants to see some real commitment from me. I’m not doing all of this just for the sake of checking the boxes and being able to say, Š—“Yes, I did ONE on ONE with GOD.Š— I think God wants to see a lifelong commitment to making Him the priority in my life. I know He doesn’t exect perfection because He knows I’m not capable of that. But He expects me to give my best.

Fifteen weeks ago God found me embarking on a new journey via a job, which would greatly affect me, my husband, and my children.

I was making time for ONE on ONE with GOD. I was excited but a bit nervous as to whether or not I would be able to pull it off while juggling many other pressing responsibilities.

As the first nine weeks of my job were such a huge disappointment, God was using ONE on ONE to guide me and be my hope in a seemingly no-win situation at workŠ—_

I have learned several other things through and during this time in ONE on ONE. God is Sovereign. I must yield to Him daily and want to! Apart from Him, I can do nothing. The principle of displacement taught me to renew my mind in His Word. And finally, I am to love myself with a Christ-centered love.
