ONE on ONE with GOD has brought me to a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God.
It has helped me to be more consistent and faithful in my daily quiet time. Through this study I have grown spiritually. It has also helped me in my role as a husband and father to be the spiritual leader in my home.

During ONE on ONE with GOD, I have developed a habit of reading God’s Word, praying, and meditating on God’s Word every morning.
I like to think of it as strategically placing my day in God’s hands and trusting His plan for the day. Proverbs provide daily bites of wisdom and reminders of God’s promises, and the Old and New Testament combine to provide a picture of God’s love and grace. My day starts with Jesus as the center of my life, and without this I would not have stayed calmly focused at work with the situation my child is going through.
With my child struggling through his special needs and our struggle with the school, I lean on memory verses such as 1 Peter 5:7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you, and John 10:28I give them eternal life and they shall never perish. No one can snatch them out of my hand. By memorizing verses I have been able to re-focus my mind and heart on God even in the worst of circumstances and at any time. These verses remind me that I can rely on God’s promises that my children are forever in His hand and that my worries about them can be entrusted to the Lord.
We are all bombarded by temptation in many ways every day. I commonly find myself repeating 1 Corinthians 10:13No temptation has seized you except that which is common to man, and God is faithful; he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. God’s promise to provide a way out turns me from temptation and helps me be an example of Christ to others so they can see that my faith is genuine.
There are so many more promises of God’s grace and love that I would need pages to share all that I am learning.

Fifteen weeks ago I was very nervous and scared about starting ONE on ONE with GOD, which I thought would be just another class.
I didn’t know if I would measure up. I didn’t realize that I was about to take my first step toward a lifelong investment and walk with God.
Since finishing the course, I have come to realize that I wasn’t just renewing my intellectual knowledge of the Bible, but I was and am still learning to have a true relationship with God. I still have a very long way to go, but I know there is a huge difference in knowing the Word and in having an intimate relationship and walk with the Lord.

Fifteen weeks ago God found me as a toddler Christian, willing to please Him and trying to pleasing Him but not really knowing how to do so.
Tonight God finds me with a much stronger grasp of His plan for my future. He finds me willing to seek His face daily through His Word, praying much more often, telling others on a regular basis about the work He is doing in my life, and ready to face the future in the comfort and protection of His strong and capable arms. Tonight God sees me as a willing soldier, graduated from boot camp and ready to go out and fight in His army, not in my own strength but through His strength, His wisdom, and His power.

The most important thing I learned through this time in ONE on ONE with GOD is consistency.
I have never been what my name, Connie, meansconsistent, constant, or earnest devotee. It seemed the more I tried, the worse it became. The true test has been my early morning quiet time. After combining the demands of being the leader of this study, a routine work schedule, the challenge of a friend’s zeal for the Lord, a roommate who wakes up long before the chickens, and a personal desire to know the Lord, I am pleased to say that I am attaining some consistency in my spiritual life.
The constant reminder of Philippians 3:10 was a real blessing. It helped us keep our sights focused on the Lord rather than the thickness of our verse packet. Luke 9:23, taking up my cross daily, has become a part of my regular daily prayer time. The best part of the study for me was the section on love, especially the love test. I am reminded nearly every day that without love, children cannot grow and thrive. The sections on love pointed out several areas that I needed to become aware of. Finally, concentrating on just one day at a time is great!

Fifteen weeks ago I was searching.
I didn’t know for what, but I knew the answer was out there. I was looking for my purpose in living.
Today I know that God has a purpose for me. I am excited at my growth although sometimes disappointed in my shortcomings. But I know that He loves me, He forgives me, and He has a purpose for me. I know that I am determined to know Jesus more deeply and intimately, that I want to understand the wonders of His person more strongly and more clearly. I want to know the power outflowing from His resurrection, and I want to be in His likeness. The decisions I make will focus on Will it help me know Him, glorify Him, and become like Him? He is everything, and I am anxious to grow in Him.

Fifteen weeks ago I was actively serving the Lord.
I was doing the things I knew He wanted me to do. After finishing ONE on ONE with GOD, I am still serving and doing those same things, but I have realized I have a real, living, personal God who is right here with me. He loves me, and I love Him more. He’s my friend.

I can’t begin to express my appreciation for your yieldedness and obedience to God.
For the first time I anticipate and am excited about reading and studying God’s Word. It is so rich and personal.
God has ordained various tests, trials, and hard circumstances so I might become transformed to be like Him. Some are harder than others, but I think I’m learning.

Before I took ONE on ONE with GOD, I was very lax in the time I spent, if any, reading the Word of God.
I was not memorizing any scripture, nor was I in any Bible study other than that engaged in on Sunday mornings. My prayer life was lackluster and unfulfilling. I was not at peace.
But now I have disciplined myself to daily Bible reading, knowing this is a means to an end. I have learned to be in a nearly constant state of prayer, and it has given me great peace in recent difficulties and struggles. I am memorizing scripture and find myself using this in discussion with others as I also find it easier to engage daily in discussion about Jesus. I have developed habits and disciplines that have set me toward becoming more intimately acquainted with Him, and I am determined to keep it that way.

Fifteen weeks ago God found me living a nominal, mediocre Christian life.
While I knew God’s sovereignty over all things, I was playing defense almost all the time.
After finshing ONE on ONE with GOD, I desire to know Him more intimately and am being proactive to do so. I am aware of my responsibility to make Him known to those around me and am playing offense more often in this regard.

Fifteen weeks ago I was just going through the motions of church without having a real purpose for knowing Him.
After finishing ONE on ONE with GOD, I have a better understanding and desire to know Him. I have a heart that wants to study and be in the Word in order to apply truths in my daily life and a desire to live an abundant life for Him. It has given me a desire to share what God is teaching me.

ONE on ONE with GOD was the beginning of an exciting new adventure in my life.
After being a Christian for a number of years, I learned that God wanted me to know Him personally and intimately. ONE on ONE helped me to acquire some tools that I use every day to know Him, be like Him, and glorify Him.

I had the privilege of using ONE on ONE with GOD with about 30 high school and junior high students in my town in Alabama.
Several youth directors and I met with these youth on Monday nights to discuss and encourage one another in our individual journeys toward becoming more acquainted with our Lord Jesus Christ. It was then I discovered that this is more than just another discipleship program. ONE on ONE is a tool to guide young and old into God’s Word and, through that, direct them into a lifestyle of prayer, Bible study, and evangelism. We saw God move this particular group of youthfrom four different churchesfrom five-minute devotional times each day to spending literally hours each day in His Word and in prayer! At the same time, students at their area high school were being saved in the halls, bathrooms, and library because of the witness of these particular youth. Jeremiah said that man’s glory is in that he understands and knows God. The Spirit of God Himself is the only one who can give man this understanding and knowledge. ONE on ONE with GOD is a simple, flexible method for helping a person discipline himself into a position to receive this instruction.

Fifteen weeks ago I was sporadically having a quiet time with God.
I had a consistently inconsistent pattern with my relationship with God and was allowing the dictates of my work, family, and other things to interfere with that relationship. My relationship was not a full one. While I read the scriptures and applied what I read, I did not memorize scripture or read and meditate on its content. The result was a partial relationship with Godpartial in that I was neglecting several of the important aspects.
Today I am having a consistent quiet time. Consistently I am reading, meditating, praying, memorizing, and trying to apply God’s Word. My relationship with Jesus is becoming progressively more intimate with each day, and I thank God for this.

I feel that through my study of ONE on ONE with GOD, I have truly grown closer to God.
I am still determined to learn more about God and His Word. I pray that God will lead me to acquire more of Him and to apply this in days of my life. I know that God has made a change in my life because of this course.

Before taking ONE on ONE with GOD, I was wrapped up in myself.
I was a believer, but I was a passive Christian who was fooled into thinking I didn’t need more (I went to churchwhat more could God want?). My husband was my #1 best friend.
But today I am a focused Christianfocused on God and not myself. I am an active Christian, desiring to know and please God more and more. I am at peace with God in control. God is now my #1 best friend!

Fifteen weeks ago I had no discipline.
I didn’t realize how important it was to my relationship with God. After completing ONE on ONE with GOD, I can feel closer to God because I have tried to be disciplined. I have learned more about God, and I am growing in His Word.

God found me fifteen weeks ago seeking more knowledge and understanding of His will for me.
Now He finds me in a closer relationship with Him, continuing to learn and grow daily, seeking His will for my life more fervently. The two main areas I’ve benefited in are developing a daily plan for reading and meditating and using my daily prayer reminder. All of this study has helped me become more deeply and intimately acquainted with God!

Before ONE on ONE with GOD, I was reading the Word and was a believer, but I didn’t meditate on the Word.
I didn’t put myself in the reading by picturing myself there as I have learned to do in the class. I wasn’t a disciplined Bible scholar.
After completing ONE on ONE, I am enjoying spending time with God by pondering, picturing, and praying. I find my focus is more on God and not so much on the burdens of life. I have a peace after I have talked with God and asked for His will to be done. I think others can see the fruit of the Spirit in me more. I have been a Christian since I was twelve years old, and I’ve been in study groups, but I have gained more from this than any other study.
