Before I started ONE on ONE with GOD, God found me at a place of discouragement because I did not know how to go on in the next part of my walk with Him.
I was depending on devotional books and what other people learned and taught me. So discouragement soon followed. I also was trying to lead girls, and they got too dependent on meeting with me.
But now God has taught me how to learn and meditate straight from His Word. He has taught me not to depend on what others have learned. This has made a world of difference in my relationship with Jesus! It’s so much more personal. Now I know how to lead girls and challenge them to lead others and be disciple-makers.

At the beginning of the summer I was coming out of a very dry spell in my walk with God.
I wanted to spend time with Him and know Him more, but I just didn’t take the time. I knew deep downbut didn’t want to admitthat I was holding back and not giving everything up to God so that He could show me Himself and the glories of His person. I also didn’t know exactly how to go about reading and meditating on God’s Word.
Through ONE on ONE with GOD this summer, I have prayed to surrender myself to God and give up that part of me that I wouldn’t give up before. I feel for the first time that I am allowing God to totally direct my path. I was planning on going to grad school next year, but now I am going to be working and letting God show me my next step. God has used ONE on ONE to get me in the Word and to set me up to know how to read and meditate. I truly believe that God has used this to start my journey of knowing Him.

Last year I went on a youth retreat with my church and rededicated my life to the Lord and felt called to be a missionary.
I had never felt closer to God than at that point in my life. However, the devil continuously made himself known when I got back home. Slowly my faith disintegrated, and I felt like God was nowhere around. My quiet time was never structured. I usually had it, but I really didn’t know how to begin. One reason for this may be because_I feel I’ve had no accountability at all.
After finishing ONE on ONE with GOD, I have never felt more attuned to God’s will. Ever since I started this study, God has given me more structure in my quiet times as well as a strong will to be at His feet continually. God has used ONE on ONE to show me many things about my life that need to be changed, even if they do seem insignificant. Now I know for a fact what I plan to do with my life because God has opened my heart to see His plan for my life and not my own. I helped, also, to see other girls continually growing in Him. Because of ONE on ONE my life will never be the same. I hope to go on home and show other Christians what I have learned here and be a disciple-maker to all nations. Thank you for allowing God to use you in such an awesome way!

When I began ONE on ONE with GOD, I was not used to sharing God with people at all.
I was private about my quiet times, and I was a silent witness. Sure, I loved God, but I certainly did not understand His greatness. I was not used to praying with people. My spiritual life has always been private, yet I always relied on others to feed meespecially on Sundays. Since we haven’t been able to go to church here, I have been glad that I have learned how to study God’s Word and get to know Him better on my own. Also, at the beginning of the summer, I was curious about this study but assumed it was just another study. I knew I wanted to be involved, meet people, and do God stuff, and I also wanted to grow, but I didn’t really think the study would be the challenge it was.
Now all during the day at work, I find my mind running with phrases I have read or learnedespecially those about loving others who are hard to love and loving them as Christ does. I have grown this summer, but I am not satisfied, nor do I think I ever will be. It has just made me realize that I can spend my whole life trying to get to know Him better. My one-on-one time should never end! It’s also really encouraging to me because I know God had me learn this summer for a reason, and hopefully He will use this in the fall and for the rest of my life so I can grow and also help others.

When I started ONE on ONE with GOD, I was in a good place, I thought, but I had kind of plateaued in growing spiritually.
Through this discipleship, I have learned more about scripture and am learning how to get more out of what I am reading. I have become a little obsessed with memorizing scripture (I have five sticky notes on my desk right now), but I don’t think it is a bad thing!
Something I have learned that I have never really thought of before is my prayers. I now make sure that thanks and adoration are included in my prayers.
Honestly I didn’t know how much 12 weeks would teach me, but it was truly a blessing! I am going on a mission trip to South Africa on May 19, and I feel more prepared than ever with God’s promises and scripture written on my heart.
Thank you for obeying God’s calling to write ONE on ONE. It is fabulous and has jump-started my spiritual growth again.

Before taking ONE on ONE with GOD, I was someone searching for Him and looking for ways to know Him better.
. I had a heart for the lost, but I was not really eager to go out and share. I was unequipped to discipline another Christian, and I was sometimes selfish and insensitive to the needs of others around me.
Today I’m following closer behind Him. Jesus is more familiar with me because of extended conversations I’ve had with Him. I’m a little more grown up and eager to go and make disciples and share with others about His awesome love and amazing grace. I’m more aware of the needs and feelings of those around me.

Before I started ONE on ONE with GOD, I did not love people the way that I should have.
It was just hard for me to love some people in my life. I also worried about everything.
Now God is loving people through me. I am living one day at a time with God, so I don’t worry about tomorrow (because I might not be here). I know that God has a huge plan for my life, and I am giving Him complete control.

I was not very committed when I started ONE on ONE with GOD.
My quiet time wasn’t something I strove to have. I was not all that close to God.
After going through ONE on ONE, I am a new person. I have really learned what it means to live a complete and whole Christian life. Meditation is an awesome tool I had no idea about. God has given me a passion for the lost through this study and has made my walk with Him 150 percent greater than it ever was. ONE on ONE has truly blessed my life. I have finally figured out what it is all about and just how awesome God really is. I don’t know where God is leading me next, but I do feel I have the tools to disciple wherever He leads. ONE on ONE has equipped me for a lifetime of service. I now have a passion for God that won’t ever burn out, a firm foundation, and deep roots in His love.

When we started ONE on ONE with GOD, I was joyfully listening to God in scripture reading and prayer.
I was leading people through ONE on ONE and listening for the voice of God concerning discipleship in the local church.
My desire in meeting with Jerry was to yield to God’s direction for my life and thinking through Him. The Lord gave definition to several areas in my personal life:
1. Live your life based on promises. Throughout scripture people made decisions and stood on what God said. We can do the same today. Application: Write out the specific question and prayerfully listen for God’s answer(s) in scripture.
2. Use a much simpler journaling style and clearly marked half-sheets. Order has been brought to this filing system.
3. A passion for discipleship can be renewed again and again.
4. Yield to the power and control of the Holy Spirit continually (hour by hour, day by day). Application: Mentally use the reins illustration.

When I started ONE on ONE with GOD, I was weary, hurt from life, needy, searching, and questioning God’s plan for my life, floundering in the disciplines, battling for consistency, and frustrated.
But after finishing the study, I am consistently in His Word dailylearning, growing, processing what I’m hearing, and digesting. I’m ready to share and teach girls how they, too, can know God and hear from Him. I find myself hungry to know more. I live a more balanced and consistent life. I find myself more willing to share with people what God has been teaching me. I’m making myself more available to hear Him speak. God finds me deeply indebted to the authors for investing in me and sacrificing so I could learn how to know God and feed myself.

My wife and I, along with the rest of the staff at our ministry on a major college campus, went through ONE on ONE with GOD.
The emphasis is on knowing God intimately and deeply. This is the best material I have seen for discipling people. While you learn to make the disciplines a habit so as to become a lifestyle, the focus is always on knowing God, not on checking boxes for the day.

Before I took ONE on ONE with GOD, I was selfish, very fearful of things like rejection, and very self-conscious.
But after completing the course, I am progressively becoming more selfless. I went to Sandia Peak and thought upon Philippians 3:10 where it talks about the wonders of His person. While I went up on the tram, I just meditated on Him as Creator as I saw the beauty of His creation and how He made it all. I also learned to trust Him with my physical life as well as my spiritual life. I’ve learned how He is in charge of everything. God is teaching me to see myself the way He sees me instead of seeing myself as I think I am or as the world sees me.

Before I began ONE on ONE with GOD, I was looking for tools to use in ministering to my campus.
I desired to grow and acquire more disciplines to use in my walk. I truly desired to invest in people’s lives, but I was hesitant because I didn’t feel able and I was scared I’d mess up or not have anything to offer. There was an internal battle between what I knew Christ was calling His people to do and my fears and selfishness. I don’t think I was fully convinced that I had a responsibility to share Christ and multiply disciple-makers. I wanted to break down those walls and be the same man everywhere. I wanted to not separate my life or hide Jesus anymore.
After completing the course, I feel God has changed my heart. ONE on ONE has brought a new understanding and joy into my walk. I have acquired tools that I can feel comfortable teaching to others. God has really blessed me through ONE on ONE. I gleaned much from the studies on meditation and the principle of displacement and from the teaching on promises. I have been encouraged greatly, and I have been changedGod has changed my heart. I am more aware of His presence, I desire to love Him more, and I desire to serve Him by sharing the love of Jesus with others. I look forward to the godly heritage the Father has planned for my life. I desire to invest in the lives of faithful men and to be faithful myself. I feel that I am closer in my fellowship with Jesus. I no longer dread the idea of discipleship, but rather I’m quite excited to live the abundant life God has for me.

I am pleased to recommend the very excellent discipleship material ONE on ONE with GOD, developed by Jerry and Marilyn Fine.
For years I had a very strong bias against discipleship notebooks of any kind because so many of these fill-in-the-blank kind of materials are, more often than not, an end in themselves. But ONE on ONE has overcome that bias!
ONE on ONE is a means to an end. It aids in the development of several lifestyle patterns that are practical and powerful.
As I led my fourth group of spiritually mature college students through this series, they consistently reported back with great excitement about personal spiritual growth. Two of those college students began their own groups, involving a total of seven high school students.
I am sold on the value of ONE on ONE with GOD for use in ministry with university students and will continue to use it regularly.

I appreciate so much all the work Jerry and Marilyn Fine put in to ONE on ONE with GOD.
My BSU director at Montana State University, G.C., and I went through the workbook when I was a junior thereand a Christian basically in name only. By the time we finished, I had grown considerably as a Christian and was looking forward to a lifetime of getting to know God.
I can still remember when I first opened the workbook and Philippians 3:10 AMP smacked me right between the eyes. I couldn’t get it out of my head, so I memorized it. It is still my life verse, and I always make it part of my personal testimony. I have a long, long way to go to catch up with Paul, but at least I am well on the way.
G. and the workbook kept me focused on the basics and the fundamental truths of scripture. Now many years later, I am grateful to have had that kind of groundwork in my Christian life because I find myself returning to them over and over when I find life getting too confusing or overly complicated.

When I started ONE on ONE with GOD, God found me with a heart willing to learn.
I wasn’t on the level with God that I wanted to be on, and I was seeking help in developing my relationship with God. I had knowledge, but I felt a lack of depth in the relationship.
After completing ONE on ONE, I have realized many things that were previously lacking in my life, and I have been encouraged and convicted in other areas. I now know what my determined purpose in life is: to know God. I have learned how to move what I read from my head to my heart. I have realized that I need to deepen my love for others. The importance of investing my life in others has been reemphasized. I now have a strong desire to continue knowing God and to be an effective disciple-producer back on campus in my few years there and for the rest of my life. Oh_and I especially learned that I need to depend on God for everything!

Before I started ONE on ONE with GOD, I was eager to pursue a life with Him, but four to five days a week for a quiet time was not enough.
I did not have any experience with evangelism, and witnessing to unbelievers terrified me. There was a big desire to learn leadership skills and qualities of how to be a leader. However, my everyday Christian witness was not what it should be.
I have gotten very excited about going back to school to witness and impact others for Christ. I want to get discipleship started with ONE on ONE with GOD. I have lots of ideas for my men’s group. Scripture memory has become exciting and useful in witnessing as long as I have accountability to memorize. I feel like I am better equipped to lead a small group, and I am much more excited about reading and studying God’s Word. I love it! Overall, I’ve had a big change in my heart and attitude towards consistency with God in everyday living. I need God on my days offwhat a novel idea!

I really appreciate you and your ministry!
I want you to know that there are now ten young men in my fraternity house who are passionately following after Jesus as a direct result of ONE on ONE with GOD. I pray that the Lord will continue to bless you and your ministry.

I wasn’t sure I really wanted to do ONE on ONE with GOD.
I came to Ridgecrest this summer wanting to grow, but I wasn’t sure I had the time to put into the study because of my day camp schedule. My heart was uncertain when I started this study. I depended a lot , on my own strength and ability, not on God’s.
God has used this study to teach me the proper way of knowing Him. I was never taught this. To sum it up in one word, He has taught me to surrender. He’s taught me that He is the Blessed Controller of all things. He is in control and has a wonderful, perfect plan for my life. Through everything He was showing me in this study, He also placed trials in my life. I learned and experienced firsthand what He was teaching me, and I truly experienced His love and strength. God has broken my heart for the lost and given me a passion to go and tell. I am excited about leaving Ridgecrest and taking everything back with me that He has taught me. I’m excited about sharing with my parents and anyone else God lays in my path!

At the beginning of ONE on ONE with GOD, I was excited.
I was ready to hear from God and couldn’t wait to see what He would do with me and through me. I was expecting awesome things.
Today God finds me with a peace in my heart and a sense of accomplishment. God has done a wonderful work in my life. ONE on ONE has helped give me a greater understanding of God’s love for me. He has taught me the importance of Scripture memory and how His Word is living and active. I’ve also learned the importance of living one day at a time and living each day to the fullest. This helps me not become overwhelmed by thoughts of the future. Not only this, but I am learning what it means to truly wait on God, to trust Him. He knows my needs and where I will be each day. The daily Bible reading has been beneficial to me in that it helps me to trust God to speak to me through His Word according to my daily needs. I am excited about taking what I’ve learned this summer home with me.
